Drivers planning to travel in or through Delaware using I-95 this weekend will need to adjust their plans.
DelDOT is closing I-95 down at the Route 202 interchange starting Friday night. It will be closed through early Monday morning for the demolition of an existing ramp and removal of girders on the Route 202 bridge over the highway.
Barring inclement weather, the closure begins at 8 tonight starting with I-95 southbound, north of exit 8. The road – and all on and off ramps at 202 – will be completely shutdown by 9pm.
It will reopen Monday morning at 5 am.
DelDOT strongly recommends that all non-local traffic use I-495 instead of I-95.
Detour signs and messages on both overhead and variable message boards will direct traffic through detours listed below:
I-95 Northbound Traffic:
I-95 northbound traffic south of the I-95/U.S. 202 interchange will be directed onto Exit 8 U.S. 202 northbound to West Chester. Traffic will follow northbound U.S. 202, and make a right onto eastbound Naamans Road to the I-95/Naamans interchange to continue north on I-95.
I-95 Southbound Traffic:
