New Vision Network executive director offers view of Delaware education

Earlier this month, Mark Murphy stepped into his new job as Executive Director of the Vision Network – a coalition of 26 Delaware public schools that serve as models for implementing the Vision 2015 plan aimed at improving education in Delaware.

Murphy comes from the New Leaders for New Schools organization that works to attract, prepare and support the next generation of school leaders.  He was most recently NLNS’ Executive Director of Leadership Development.  Before joining NLNS, Murphy was an assistant principal and principal in Maryland’s  St. Mary’s County public school system.

DFM News’ Tom Byrne sat down with Murphy recently to discuss what he views as the Vision Network’s top priorities and the state of education in Delaware, including the state’s efforts to implement its Race To The Top initiatives.
